The mission of Jack's Playground is to provide loving care and rehabilitation to animals in need, and to find them forever homes.
Jack's Playground Animal Rescue is a foster based organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We do not have a shelter building and our dogs are in volunteer foster homes throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.
Yep! If you have found a young kitten outside that mom has abandoned or is in an unsafe location, we are happy to help. We have experienced bottle feeders on our team who are available at all hours. If you have a litter of puppies or kittens that mom is refusing to care for, please reach out to us for assistance.
To adopt a pet from Jack's Playground, you must fill out an application, chat with an adoption counselor, and complete a foster-to-adopt trial before formally adopting.
Our rescue usually starts with a one week foster-to-adopt period, but we are flexible around allowing additional time if you need it. During this week "trial" you'd foster the dog or cat you are interested in adopting. Foster to adopt is a great way to see if a specific dog or cat will fit into your home and lifestyle before committing to adoption. We are happy to provide support and resources to the prospective adopters, to help them through the foster period. This makes it especially good for first time pet parents. If you decide that the dog or cat isn’t the right fit long-term, you still get to play a part in helping prepare them for their forever home.
Short answer: Sometimes. Please reach out to us. If we can't help, we can discuss or connect you with resources that can.
Long answer: We will take owner surrenders depending on the case. Our rescue will NOT take owner surrender behavioral cases, but we will provide resources when able. We are open to taking on dogs and cats with medical needs that owners cannot afford. Our rescue is not open to taking on behavioral cases, bites cases, male cats with a history of urinary blockages, diabetic cats, or animals with a history of 2+ foreign body surgeries.
Our animals come from all over. We try our best to help not only the local community but shelters across the country that need help. If someone asks, we are there for them.

Whether you're fostering or adopting an animal through our rescue, we want you to know that we're here for you. Our goal is not only to find the perfect home for our animals, but to teach along the way!

Our organization is volunteer based. If you apply for an animal and want to get ahold of us sooner, please reach out through the "Contact Us" button or Facebook messaging.
